Conscious Route

The story so far

Conscious Route is a London-born, Edinburgh-based rapper, MC, and poet blending introspection, cultural awareness, and hip-hop ethics. Rooted in a strong DIY ethos, the project is built on collaboration, care, and shared growth, using music as a tool for reflection, connection, and community.

Releases span digital, physical, and live events, with performances delivered either solo or as Conscious Route & The Collective, a dynamic live ensemble bringing musicians and guest vocalists together. Sonically, the work draws from Black-rooted culture, reggae, soul, drum & bass, garage, grime, dub, and sound-system traditions.

Critically praised releases include Lost Routes (4★ The Scotsman), Belterz (4★ The Skinny / The Scotsman), and Shadows (with Supermann on da Beat), which received BBC Introducing Scotland airplay and was selected for British Airways’ Next Big Thing 2024.

Live highlights include performances at The Queen’s Hall Edinburgh and Kelburn Garden Party, with support slots for Marlowe, Wiki, Jelani Blackman, Onyx, Manga Saint Hilare, Pan Amsterdam, Jeru The Damaja, and Jayahadadream (Pitch International Showcase 2025). In 2026, Conscious Route was named one of Vic Galloway’s BBC Scotland Top 25 Acts to Watch.

Conscious Route connects with Wends for ‘High & Mighty,’ a full-weight drum & bass sheller with production from Supermann on da beat. Opening with a stutter-step, the track hits momentum fast as Wends brings her reggae drenched vocals for the hook and switches to deliver some quick-fire toasting before Conscious Route takes up the vocals, bringing a hip-hop aesthetic to bear over the middle of the track.

The up-tempo, party-ready feel of the tune belies the deeper message underneath, as both lyricists lean into lived experience to speak on those moments when you have lost control of your emotions, your nerves are on edge and you’re moving without empathy. But this is no empty boasting, as Conscious Route and Wends use their sharp wordplay to reflect on the personal and social cost of losing control and the need to find stillness before things spiral. The production brings subtle depth as elements drop in and out of the mix to create a deceptively rich palette, switching with the lyrical deliveries to create a push-pull across the tune, as clarity and chaos clash between the insistence of the breaks and the melodic, lingering hook:

“When I’m high and mighty, Bring me back down on my two feet, Feeling every heartbeat, From my chest through my teeth.”

Bringing together elements of sound system culture and reggae with hip-hop and drum and bass, this track brings a message to the dance; It’s not just about losing your cool, it’s about catching yourself before you disappear in it.

Hip Hop Scotland Presents: Mic Righteous

Poetry Club , 100 Eastvale Pl, Glasgow

The product of a tough upbringing, Mic Righteous began rapping to help deal with pent-up anger and frustration. He started to pen his own lyrics and record his own tracks at a recording studio near his brother's house, and quickly began to experience success, with his mixtapes receiving downloads in the thousands and his tracks becoming YouTube hits. With his popularity continuing to increase, he also began receiving recognition from fellow artists on the scene, namely The Game Devlin, and Wretch 32. Collaborations with household names such as Emeli Sandé and Ed Sheeran helped propel the rapper, with his hard-hitting, gritty lyrics to a wider audience, helped him become one of the most well respected MCs in the UK scene. “It’s an exciting time for Dizraeli... tune in now”

Clash

4 years after the Worldwide Award nominated record The Unmaster, Dizraeli announces the release of his new album JOY MACHINE with a 15-date UK tour.

Recorded almost entirely in a single day at the legendary Total Refreshment Centre in London, JOY MACHINE brings together some of the most exciting musicians in London’s new jazz explosion. With vocals from Dizraeli (Worldwide Music Awards Best Album nominee), drums from Ben Brown (Alfa Mist, Mulatu Astatke), bass from uk jazz scene favourite Daisy George, synths from Joseph Costi (Yusef Cat Stevens, Bahla) and saxophone from free jazzer Ronan Perrett.

Ranging from the uplifting summer anthem Greek Summer to the fierce political commentary of Bored of What, JOY MACHINE is a record for our times, bursting with urgency, intensity and life, and one that cements Dizraeli’s position as a boundary-destroying wordsmith and musician.

Having spent 2023 deep in creative mode, Diz is on tour with the band around the UK across April and May 2024. Expect explosive energy, moments of tenderness and virtuoso musicianship.

Conscious Route will be a support on this leg of the tour only.
